We commit to delivery of excellent, evidence-based care.
In terms of excellence we’re focusing on two areas: evidence-based medicine and patient satisfaction.
National Hospital Inpatient Quality Measures
There is growing scientific evidence that describes care processes associated with the best outcomes. When hospitals adhere to those processes, their patients have the greatest likelihood of optimal outcomes.
Through our Caritas collaborative work groups, we have focused on achieving full compliance with the CMS National Hospital Inpatient Quality Measures (Core Measures). CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) and The Joint Commission established the Core Measures in 2000. They began publicly reporting data relating to the Core Measures in 2003.
In 2008, there were 26 indicators across four core areas:
Patient Satisfaction
We value what our patients think about their experience within our hospitals.
After their discharge from the hospital, we ask patients to rate their care through a written survey. Patients provide their opinions across multiple factors, including communication with doctors and nurses, cleanliness and quietness of hospital environment, and pain management. View the results and learn what we are doing in response.
